VARIETIES OF VINES IN OTHER COUNTRIES
2.2 Australia and New Zealand viticulture vine varieties - “Recent Colonial” viticulture.
Australian viticulture, (Table 2.18.b Australia wine grape varieties) which recently seemed to be expanding and forming a dangerous competitor for the Old World, has shown agronomic limitations, which are insurmountable at the moment, due to lack of water for irrigation of new vineyards and winemaking limitations owed to the inability to offer high-level wines.
The multinational companies of the vine-growing and wine-producing sector are now transferring their interests from Australia to nearby New Zealand, asserting itself in the quality wine sector, with its Sauvignon and Pinot noir.
